WSH Coordinator Refresher Training

Overview

The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) mandates continuous training for Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Coordinators to enhance their competencies in managing workplace safety. This includes a refresher training program for WSH Coordinators in various sectors such as Construction, Process, Manufacturing, Marine, and Transport & Storage. Detailed in circular MOM/OSHD/2023-02, dated 16 February 2023, this training ensures WSH Coordinators stay updated with essential WSH knowledge and skills.

Moving forward in 2024, all appointed WSH Coordinators, regardless of their industry, will be required to attend the WSH Coordinator Refresher Training every two years. This is to ensure there is continuous learning, updates and enhancements to their WSH knowledge and competencies. 

The WSH Coordinator Refresher Training enhances participants’ understanding of their roles and responsibilities under WSH regulations, focusing on effective worksite safety management. Through an online learning package covering topics like assertive contractor management, risk assessment planning, and good work practices to prevent serious consequences, participants prepare for a one-day physical in-person workshop. Here, they network and discuss past incidents to prevent future recurrences, fostering a proactive safety culture.

Key Requirements

Training Deadlines:

• Coordinators trained before/on 31 December 2017 must complete refresher training by 30 June 2023.
• Coordinators trained between 1 January 2018 and 31 December 2021 must complete it by 31 December 2023.
• From 2024 onwards, all appointed WSH Coordinators must attend refresher training every two years.

Training Structure:

• E-learning: Estimated 5 hours, accessible via mobile or internet-connected devices.
• In-person Session: One day of practical, hands-on training after completing e-learning.

Course fee is S$98.10 inclusive of GST.

Registration: 

• All Attendees are required to upload a copy of their Level B Certification during registration.
• Attendees who fail to upload a copy of their Level B Certification may be withheld from taking the course.

Course Content

The refresher training includes updated WSH developments, good practices, contractor management, and incident management, covered in 10 e-learning modules followed by a practical workshop.

• WSH Act & Subsidiary Legislation
• Risk Management
• Common Worksite Activities
• Common worksite hazards
• Contractor Management
• Incident Management
• Good WSH practice at worksites

Duration: 

13 hours (5 hours of asynchronous e-learning and 8 hours of in-person workshop).

Medium of Instruction: 

English.

Class Size: 

20 participants per in-person workshop.

Learning Environment: 

Ergonomically designed classrooms with necessary facilities and free Wi-Fi.

Compliance and Certification

• Records of completed training will be updated in the MOM WSH Training Record System.
• Participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance from Eversafe Academy upon completion of the e-learning and summative assessment.
• A Certificate of Participation, valid for two years, will be awarded after attending the in-person workshop.
