Suspended Scaffold (Gondola) Operator Course (SSOC) is for individuals who are required to operate suspended scaffolds (Gondola) safely in the workplace, including workers, supervisors, and other personnel involved in Suspended scaffold operations.

Entry Requirement

    • Minimum age of 18 years.
    • Medically fit to work at height and perform physical tasks.
    • Ability to read and write in English.
    • Ability to read and understand manufacturer’s instructions, procedures, and safety signs.
    • Good situational awareness and safety consciousness.
    • Valid certification in one of the following: Perform Work at Height (PWAH), Apply Workplace Safety and Health in Construction Sites (AWCHCS) Manage Work at Height (MWAH), or Construction Safety Orientation Course (CSOC).

Course Overview

This course is designed to provide participants with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to operate suspended scaffolds (Gondola) safely in the workplace. Participants will gain a thorough understanding of suspended scaffold components, legal and regulatory requirements, hazard identification, and safety considerations. They will also learn proper inspection and maintenance techniques, as well as best practices for handling and transporting scaffold components.

Additionally, the course will cover worksite preparation, effective communication, teamwork, and the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Participants will be trained on post-operation procedures, emergency response, and rescue planning. By the end of the course, they will be fully competent to inspect, test, and operate suspended scaffolds safely and efficiently.

Course Content

  • Upon completion of the Suspended Scaffold Operator Course, participants will know about:

  • By the end of the course, participants will be competent to inspect, test and operate suspended scaffold (Gondola) at workplace.

Course Duration:

  • 8 Hours including 30 Mins of Written assessment and 2 Hours 30 Mins of Practical Performance

  • Class room Lecture, Discussion, Q&A, Micro Learning, Interactive Video, Case Studies, IPR and Hands-on Practical Sessions

  • Room with the capacity for up to 20 Trainees. Our ergonomically designed classrooms are fully air-conditioned, equipped with whiteboards; audio/video equipment and free wi-fi.
  • Practical Stations with Two types of Suspended Scaffold Practical stations.

  • Theory Training : 20 Trainees per class (per Trainer)
  • Practical: 1: 20 (Trainee: Trainer, Practical performance)

Requirements to be a trainer/assessor/developer for this course

  • A trainer of this course should possess all the following:
  • Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA)/Advanced Certificate in Learning and Performance (ACLP) or Diploma in Adult Continuing Education (DACE) or Diploma in Design and Development of Learning for Performance (DDDLP).
  • For THEORY TRAINING: Registered WSH Officer with at least 2 years working experience relating to suspended scaffolds
  • For PRACTICAL TRAINING: Registered WSH Officer with at least 2 years of practical experience in the actual operation, installation and dismantling relating to suspended scaffolds,
