WPL Preparatory Course (Speaking)

For whom:

This course is designed for individuals preparing for the British Council Workplace Literacy (WPL) Speaking Test who wish to improve their spoken English fluency and confidence in structured speaking tasks.

Entry Requirement:

• Basic conversational English proficiency.

Course Overview:

• A focused 4-hour preparatory workshop The course assesses English literacy skills through a Core Assessment (Grammar & Vocabulary) and a Speaking Assessment.
  
• Focus is on formal written English, spoken English, vocabulary usage, and structured spoken responses.

Course Content

• Aligned with the WPL Core and Speaking Assessement:
  • Grammar Practice: Sentence completion, formal and informal English usage, grammatical structures.
  • Vocabulary Practice: Word matching, word definitions, sentence completion, word pairs and combinations.
• Speaking Practice:
  • • Personal information responses
    • Describing photos and expressing opinions
    • Comparing contrasting images
    • Discussing personal experiences and abstract topics
    • Strategies and tips for successful assessment performance: sound checks, clear speech, time management, and structured responses.
